Momento Video Alarm Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 15, 2026

Momento Video Alarm ("Momento," "we," "our," or "us") is a social alarm clock application that allows users to receive personalized video messages from friends and family as part of their wake-up experience. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our app.

By using Momento Video Alarm, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

When you create or use a Momento account, we may collect: name or display name, email address, profile photo, account authentication credentials, videos you record or upload, alarm settings and preferences, friend connections, and support communications. You may sign in using Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or email authentication. Authentication providers may share your name, email address, and profile image to create and maintain your account.

1.2 User-Generated Content

Momento allows you to create and share video messages. Video content may include video recordings, audio recordings, images visible within recordings, and associated metadata. Videos are uploaded solely to enable delivery to intended recipients. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any content you submit.

1.3 Contact Discovery

Momento allows you to discover friends using display names or email addresses. In future versions, you may optionally grant access to your device contacts. If contact access is granted, that information is used only for matching and discovery. Momento does not store your contact list on its servers unless explicitly disclosed and authorized in a future update.

1.4 Information Collected Automatically

Device Information:

Device type and model, operating system version, app version, unique identifiers necessary for functionality, and diagnostic information.

Analytics:

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app, collecting feature usage, session activity, device characteristics, and performance metrics.

Crash Reporting:

We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app stability. Crash reports may include device model, OS version, app version, and technical diagnostic data, used solely to improve stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to: create and manage accounts; authenticate users; deliver video alarms; facilitate friend connections; synchronize account data and alarm settings; send push notifications; improve app performance and features; detect and prevent abuse and fraud; respond to support requests; and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not use your content for advertising purposes without express permission.

3. App Permissions

Momento requests the following permissions to deliver its core functionality. Permissions are requested only when needed, with the purpose explained at the time of the request. You may revoke any permission at any time through your device settings, though this may limit app functionality.

4. Video Storage and Retention

Standard Accounts: Uploaded videos are temporarily stored on our servers and deleted from cloud storage after successful delivery to and download by the intended recipient. Copies on your device remain under your control.

Cloud Storage Subscribers: Videos may remain stored in cloud storage until you delete them. You can manage and delete stored videos through the app.

Backup systems may temporarily retain deleted content before permanent removal. We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes in this policy, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

5. Local Device Storage

To support offline alarm operation, Momento stores locally: alarm settings and schedules, downloaded videos for scheduled alarms, and user preferences. This enables reliable alarm delivery without an internet connection.

6. Push Notifications

Momento uses push notifications to notify you when a video has been received, alert you to friend activity, support alarm-related functionality, and deliver important service updates. Push notification providers may process device notification tokens for delivery. You may disable notifications through your device settings, though certain features may be affected.

7. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited information with trusted service providers, including those providing: authentication (Google, Apple), cloud hosting and database services, file and video storage, analytics (Firebase Analytics), crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics), email delivery, and push notification delivery. Service providers may process your information only on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.

We may also disclose information if required by law or legal process, or when necessary to protect rights, safety, or property. In a merger or acquisition, user information may be transferred with prior notice.

8. Advertising

Momento does not serve third-party advertising. We do not collect or use advertising identifiers (such as IDFA or GAID) for advertising or tracking purposes.

On iOS, we do not request permission to track users across apps and websites under Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. If this changes in a future version, we will request your explicit consent before any tracking begins.

9. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards including: encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), encrypted cloud storage, authentication and access controls, secure cloud infrastructure, and monitoring and logging. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

0. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account through the app or by contacting contact@momentoalarm.com. When deleted: account access is terminated; personal information is deleted or anonymized; cloud-stored videos are deleted subject to legal requirements; information may remain in backups for up to 90 days before permanent deletion; and content already delivered to other users is not retrievable.

11. Children's Privacy

Momento is not directed toward children under 13, or the minimum age required by law in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate parental authorization. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information may contact us at contact@momentoalarm.com.

12. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside your residence, including the United States. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses to protect transferred information.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access your personal information; correct inaccurate information; request deletion; restrict or object to certain processing; receive a portable copy of your data; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Contact contact@momentoalarm.com to exercise these rights.

13.1 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have rights to know what information is collected and how it is used, request deletion, and opt out of sale or sharing. Momento does not sell personal information

13.2 European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR/UK GDPR)

Our legal bases for processing include: contract performance (to provide requested features), legitimate interests (app improvement and security), consent (optional features), and legal obligation. EEA/UK residents may submit data subject requests to contact@momentoalarm.com or to their national data protection authority.

14. Third-Party Services

Momento uses: Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, cloud hosting and storage providers, and email service providers. Each is governed by its own privacy policy.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically. When material changes occur, we will notify you through the app, by email, or through other appropriate means before the change takes effect. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
